Chances are,
you will need to separately purchase at least some AV
furniture to adequately support and properly set up your
complete home theater surround sound system.
To be at the
proper viewing height, today's high definition televisions need to be either resting on/in
an appropriate TV stand or entertainment center, or, in the
case of a flat panel plasma or LCD HDTV, securely mounted to a wall with TV wall mount hardware. Likewise, home theater projectors may require
additional ceiling mounting hardware.

If your flat
panel TV will be wall-mounted, or your television stand or
entertainment center furniture lacks adequate shelving and space to hold and ventilate a home theater receiver and source components such as a Blu-ray Disc player and/or DVD player, and HDTV receiver, (and maybe even
a center channel speaker) you may also need to invest in a component rack. |
If you aren't going with in-wall speakers and/or in-ceiling speakers, you may need to invest in some speaker stands or wall mounts
to locate any non-floorstanding speakers at their proper listening heights.
You will also
need enough home theater seating / furniture for all the family and friends that will be sharing in the enjoyment of your new home theater. Depending on your particular room and home theater budget constraints, you can go with individual home theater recliners with cup holders, or one or more rows of connected
home theater seats or sofas. Comfort is important for being able to relax long enough to last through a two hour movie or three hour TV sporting event.

Other related home theater room furnishing considerations include carpeting for the floor, wall treatments and/or decor, and perhaps even automated curtains and lighting. |
